Technology
What website platform do we use?
All of our websites are built using WordPress. WordPress is an open-source, online content management system which enables people to build their own websites, blogs or e-commerce sites. As an open-source platform, WordPress gives you full control over your site, unlike other providers such as Wix, Squarespace or Shopify. Nearly 40% of all websites on the internet are built using WordPress, so you’re website is in good hands!
What is WooCommerce?
WooCommerce is the most popular open-source e-commerce plugin for WordPress, powering almost 30% of world’s e-commerce stores. In simple terms, WooCommerce enables us to build websites that host online stores where you can purchase goods and services. At Verta, we use WooCommerce since it offers the most control and customisation over the features and services we build for our customers.
How can I manage my website?
Managing your website is quick and simple. When we finish development of your website, we will walk you through a detailed handover process where we will explain everything you need to know about managing your new site. So don’t worry, we’ll be sure to set you straight before you go 🙂
What is a "domain"?
A domain name corresponds to the website address that someone would type into their browser (e.g. Google) in order to find your site. For example, the domain name for our website is “vertadigital.com”. When you purchase a website with Verta, we can provide you with a domain name for your website, or transfer your existing domain name to your new site.
What is "hosting"?
Every website needs a place to live and, just like the apps and files on your phone, a website needs a place to store all of its files too. As such, websites typically store their files in a remote location where they can be quickly accessed by anyone who decides to visit your site. This is called “hosting”. At Verta, we can provide all of our clients with high quality hosting services at a great price.
Our Process
What happens after I request a quote?
After you request a quote with our online quote estimator, we will review your requirements and confirm a price. If you are happy with the quote, we will send you a contract which you can sign electronically. Once the contact is signed, you will receive an invoice for your deposit. The invoice will include a link where you can pay using your credit/debit card. Once we receive your deposit, we will get to work on your brand new site!
How long until my website is finished?
Once we receive a deposit, we will begin work on your site as quickly as possible. The rate at which the website is developed depends on a number of factors. E-commerce sites typically take longer than brochure sites due to the increased complexity of adding products, basket & checkout services and payment integrations. Development time is also dependent on the timeline stipulated by you during the quotation process.
What details will you need from me?
To generate your invoice, we will need details such as your billing & business address, company name and the name of the company representative requesting the website. In relation to the website itself, we may ask questions regarding your preferred branding, themes, logos, design aesthetics and more. Of course, if you have no preferences, then we will make a beautiful site according to what we think will fit your business best.
Do I need an existing business to request a website?
No. Our website services are open to anyone who wants to increase their online presence, whether that be for personal or business reasons. Simply fill out our online quote estimator to customise the services you need and receive an instant quote.
What happens when my website is finished?
When your website is complete, we will send you your final invoice and amount payable. Once we have received payment, we will supply you with the login credentials you need to manage your website, along with any other information regarding hosting and other services (if applicable). We will then give you a virtual walkthrough of your new site, including an overview of all the different site pages and the online management system. Once handover is complete, we provide 30 days of complimentary support where you can ask us any questions or report issues and we will be happy to resolve them for you.
Design
How do we work together?
The manner by which we work together is largely up to our customers discretion. By default, we will provide updates on the progress of your website on a weekly basis. For customers who prefer less contact, we can work autonomously until certain milestones are complete before reporting on progress. For customers who like to be more involved, we can work more directly on the design and features of the site on a regular basis.
How does the design process work?
Once we have started work on your website, the first page we will work on is the home page. Depending on the scale and timeline of the project, we will develop an initial mockup of the home page design aesthetic and share it with you for review. If you are happy, we will use the design attributes set out in the home page as a point of reference for the other site pages. If you have any preferences with regards to design aesthetics and branding, please share them with us and we will take them into account during our design phase.
Will my website be responsive to mobile & desktop?
Yes. All of our websites are designed to be cross-platform and responsive. This means that they are optimised for both mobile and desktop interfaces, in addition to a wide variety of the most popular web browsers such as Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Microsoft Edge. Whatever device you’re on, rest assured that your website will look great!
Do we use custom designs?
As a premium web design agency, all of our designs are tailored to our customer’s needs. We take into consideration your branding, target customer and any preferences outlined by you during our preliminary conversations to ensure that your website delivers on your needs to the highest standard.
Are stock photos and graphics included?
We include access to up to 20 stock images or graphics in the design of each of our websites. Stock images and graphics are high quality marketing materials used to enhance the design aesthetic of your website. These images and graphics are licensed and can be used by you in whatever way you so wish, such as in social media posts, emails or elsewhere.
